The NC Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF)

The NC Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) is a program designed to provide financial assistance to North Carolina homeowners who have experienced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is funded through the federal government's American Rescue Plan Act and administered by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA).

The HAF program offers financial assistance to eligible homeowners in the form of mortgage payments, utility payments, and other housing-related expenses. Eligible households must have experienced a reduction in income or other financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, be at risk of homelessness or housing instability, and meet other program requirements.

To apply for the HAF program, homeowners should contact a participating housing counseling agency to determine eligibility and complete an application. Funds are limited and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information about the NC Homeowner Assistance Fund program, including eligibility requirements and participating counseling agencies, visit the NCHFA website at https://www.nchfa.com/homeowners/nc-homeowner-assistance-fund.
